Michael Hoare, D.D.
Michael John’s journey through life might be seen as a difficult one for some, and then, not a difficult as others. His childhood provided many challenges and at an early age of seventeen, he sought nature as his safe haven by living in the woods. His continued search for inner peace brought him to a Hare Krishna ashram at eighteen in the spring of 1974, where he lived as a brahmachari (student monk) from early 1974 till Christmas of 1975.
After leaving the ashram, he was once again pulled into many challenges, loss, addictions, abuse, and more. Eventually, through the intervention of The Twelve Step programs, Michael John’s returned to his path of Spiritually Recovery. It was through his deep dive into the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous and the Twelve Steps of Recovery that he rediscovered his relationship with his Higher Power.
Being raised Catholic, then experiencing the eastern teaches of The Vedas, and now delving into the Twelve Steps, all his experiences of God through the many teachings began to all come together.
Over the last 20 years, Michael John delves further into his relationship with God through the mystical teachings of Christianity, Hinduism, Sufism, Judaism, Taoism, and Buddhism.
Today, Michael John continues his Love of God through practices of prayer, meditation, reading sacred scriptures, practicing The Presence and writing his monthly Ah-Man Spiritual Recovery Newsletter from his home in Westchester, New York.
