It is impossible to explain the vastness of the Grand Canyon or capture its essence through a lens. This vastness reminded my of God's love for all of us and His/Her expression of that love through the many religions and its spirituality
Hopefully, these pictures will give you some idea of what I am saying. I was very surprised when I first came to the Grand Canyon (this is my third visit) to hear that some of the magnificent buttes were named after the Hindu trinity, you’ll see a picture that captures both Vishnu and Shiva buttes. There is also a butte named Brahma. During our first two days, we experienced a haze over the Canyon due to fires far away.
View from the South Rim on our first day
View of many of the different buttes
More buttes…the North Rim is in the far distance
Look closely and way down at the bottom of the Canyon, you'll see the Colorado River
Several layers of rock that took hundreds of thousands of years to form
Off in the distance on the right, towering above the others are the Vishnu and Shiva buttes
The famous Bright Angel trail, which looks as if it goes off the cliff, actually leads to the Colorado River. On the right is an outhouse located on the trail down.
More switchback trails that eventually lead down to the river
