Thank you for joining me as we review The Lord's Prayer line by line, in order to get a deeper, spiritual and more practical understanding of this teaching. Last week I spoke about the depth of the meaning of "Hallowed be thy Name." This week, I’ll cover "Thy kingdom come."
Thy kingdom come.
Jesus says, “Thy kingdom come.” Not Thy kingdom will come. It's not something to wait for. It is here now, if we are ready.
And how do we ready ourselves? Through the practice of prayer, contemplation and meditation. When we practice these activities daily, we will feel the very presence of God more and more. The more we practice, the more the peace, joy, serenity, love, compassion and creativity will grow. They will continue to grow throughout our day. More and more as we walk through our day, we will want to "Hallow Thy Name." We will begin to repeat that prayer or mantra, consciously at first, then at times unconsciously; centering ourselves…feeling the peace that comes from it within.
The more we practice Hallowing Thy Name, reading bona fide scriptures, and meditating on the Word, Name and Form of God, the more we will forget ourselves while in meditation, prayer and contemplation. Then, more and more we will even forget this material world for that time period. The more these things happen, the more we will feel God's presence.
The Kingdom that Jesus speaks of is not something that will come after this life, it is here now. Do not put off God and what He has to offer to some indefinite date in the future, or after this lifetime.
Do not wait until the next incarnation or for that "someday" when you will live in His company.
Thy kingdom come is Now.
Namaste,
Michael
