"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen"
In my last blog post, I spoke about the first part of this piece of the prayer, and how tempting the world can be. The world is God’s creation; His toy. In the east, it is called His Maya…His illusion.
But at the same time, we live in this world, so we do have to deal with His toys; even work with His toys and play with His toys. But we have to keep the balance, knowing the difference between the toys and the toymaker. We must remember which one will give us everlasting power, and glory.
That power and glory are the joy, peace, compassion, love, intelligence and wisdom that comes from within, once we are in tune with God.
Lord Sri Krishna said in the Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 7, verse 14
“This divine illusion on Mine, consisting of the three modes of the external energy, certainly is difficult to overcome, but those who surrender unto Me, they only are able to surmount this illusory energy."
When we able to know what is our real goal in life (Union with God), and what is real and what is not (even those things that are temporary, such as the toys), we can have joy from them, knowing that it all comes from and is God. And when they are taken away, the sadness does not overwhelm us. We might not understand it all, but we know God has other plans and we thank Him for all that we have, all that we don’t and all that is yet to come.
If we can see God’s signature everywhere, within every creature and object, we will be experiencing God and His kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever.
Namaste,
Michael
