Step 12
Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
Having had a spiritual awakening/spiritual experience as a result of these Steps means you have recovered from your dis-ease around your addiction. It no longer has power over you. Your Higher Power has given you what you could not do yourself.
If you are at Step 12 and are a person still trying to recover from your dis-ease, you might not have thoroughly followed the principles that are outlined in the previous steps and, therefore, unable to recover from your dis-ease. There may be several reasons why. Maybe you skimped on entirely doing one or more of the previous steps? Is there some disconnection with the person you’re doing the Steps with? Could it be your understanding/relationship with your Higher Power? Or is it some mental/emotional issues that need more of the professional type of help?
