This
month I’ve been describing some of the pieces I go into detail about at my
retreats. These pieces include prayer, meditation and Being In The Presence.
Last week, I shared some wonderful poems/prayers with you.
This week,
I’d like to share with you Practicing The
Presence.
I have
written about the differences between Being Present and Practicing the Presence
in earlier blogs. I will briefly recap the difference.
Being
Present is allowing one’s self to concentrate on the senses and to observe and
take in everything around them. It is fully concentrating on the mind,
sensations and bodily reactions to certain stimuli, be it eating, walking,
breathing or other sensatory actions and reactions. It is being fully present
of the “outside” thoughts and actions/reactions.
Being
In The Presence is a process of bringing one’s attention within, to the Source
of All that Is. This Source can be experienced through bona fide scriptures,
mantras, Names of God and or prayers. It is absorbing the Essence and
connecting within to one of those “frequencies” and becoming aligned with that
Absolute Truth and/or the frequency of It.
Bona
fide scriptures are those writings that have been passed down through the
centuries by saints and sages. Remember, you absorb the consciousness of the
writers of what you are reading. There
might be a lot of teachers in the world today, but out of all those teachers,
not very many of them will be considered saints and sages in years to come.
An
Absolute Truth to meditate on and to bring oneself into Being in The Presences
is:
I Am Loved, By
Love Itself
You
can repeat this to yourself in silence or whenever you find yourself drifting
in thought; it certainly will align you and bring the essence of Source into
The Presence of your Being.
Or a
mantra I use at the retreat/workshops is the Om Sai Mantra. This is not a Hindu mantra. It is written and
recorded in Sanskrit, the oldest known language on the planet. To say that Om Sai is Hindu would be like saying that the
English language is Catholic.
If you
would like to hear the Om Sai Mantra
playing, I invite you to listen to my audio blog for the week HERE.
The Om Sai begins playing at about
the 4-minute mark.
If you
feel its Oneness within, you can go to the web page http://www.jerrythomas.com/page20/page25/index.html
and scroll down to purchase your own CD of Om
Sai at a cost of $15 (+ $5 S&H) through StillPoint Retreats.
You
might also enjoy exploring the entire StillPoint site at http://www.jerrythomas.com/index.html.
As always,
I thank you for your time and support.
Namaste,
Michael
