The right thing might not be a spiritual thing…at that moment. The right thing might be focusing on being the best employee, employer, father, mother, brother, sister, partner, etc. When we do the best we can, without selfishness, dishonesty, and with compassion, we are building those traits and characteristics of honesty, compassion and selflessness.
But what will allow to automatically “focus on the right thing” is practicing the “Presence” of the saints, sages and incarnations I spoke of in the first blog of this month. And we do that by making time each day to read from our scripture, take those words and go within, and contemplate of the reading…every day, a little at a time. This is the cement and rebar that strengthens our foundations and builds those characteristics we speak of.
